The Plumber

Talking of horror masquerading as comedy. Grant Morrison played me the radio version of this piece in 1999 and it lived with me all day. This later TV version is just as warped. Written by the magnificent Chris Morris.

  1. I got into a conversation about the plumber sketch last week. I’m probably one of the few people who have this series on DVD… awesome, dark, sick, funny… I dunno the back story but the fact it was practically all the same performers as in “Big Train”, too, just added to the weirdness at the time…

  2. ok, ok, I’ve since checked and there are only 3 of the guys from “Big Train” in “Jam”… still weird…

  3. Dude you think this was weird you should have seen the second DVD, it had all the same scenes but “remixed”. It was far far weirder

  4. Jam was a fantastic experiment on the nature of television comedy. Hard to believe that Channel 4 used to be genuinely innovative and edgy.

Of course, what was also excellent was this near spot on parody by Adam and Joe as well – http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=8fSLmvu8zFE

  5. “My husband says he’s going to leave unless I stop going on about the pipes” brrr… gooseflesh time..

  6. Nice one Jake. I hadn’t seen the Adam and Joe parody before.

  7. These were all great. ‘Jam’, eh?
