Today’s Whoops Apocalypse Moment

Or, perhaps today’s HERE WE GO HERE WE GO HERE WE GO Moment:

US contingency plans for air strikes on Iran extend beyond nuclear sites and include most of the country’s military infrastructure, the BBC has learned.

It is understood that any such attack – if ordered – would target Iranian air bases, naval bases, missile facilities and command-and-control centres.

The US insists it is not planning to attack, and is trying to persuade Tehran to stop uranium enrichment. The UN has urged Iran to stop the programme or face economic sanctions. But diplomatic sources have told the BBC that as a fallback plan, senior officials at Central Command in Florida have already selected their target sets inside Iran.

  1. Tho’ in fairness, we Americans have plans for invading every country on Earth. If I recall, the invasion of Grenada used pre-existing battle plans. We’ve probably been selecting targets inside Iran for thirty years. Besides, there’s every possibility the Israelis will beat us to it–they’ve done this before, after all.

  2. Everyone at work says, ‘No way, not even that crazy SOAB Bush would be so stupid to attack Iran, AND use atomic weapons…!’
I just remind them of all those ‘Naah, can’t happen’ things that these last 6 years have brought…
Well, in case the clouds start giving out radiation rains all over: Bye, and thanks for all the… the… oh, whatever.
