Some of those interviews I did last month are surfacing today.
At Bleeding Cool, a thankfully heavily edited version of a very fried me rambling for half an hour:
Old people being violent is interesting because they’ve been doing it a long time and are therefore very good at it. Age, cynicism and sneakiness will always triumph over youth, optimism and beauty.
At Den Of Geek, a markedly less-edited interview in which I pretty much go off the rails:
…I didn’t know this whole thing was going to happen, because, if I did, I would have tried to move it, because I’m under NDA or instructions not to talk about pretty much everything I’m working on right now. It is the worst possible time to be doing two or three hours of phoners…
Apropos of pretty much nothing, I note via Tom Spurgeon that Fantagraphics is cleaning out at the web-end of The Comics Journal. A few people seem to be ringing the clanging chimes of doom, but so far this seems like an unalloyed good thing. I would very much like to see Mr Groth’s office put some muscle into that place.
Natasha Allegri’s posting art and comics regularly again, which makes me happy.
Work on SVK continues apace. We have a website set up, but it’s still being tested in case it fries when I link to it (I have an email which reads in part “please please in the name of god don’t link to it WE WILL ALL BURN”). I think we’ll be ready to leak some art soon.
And someone just sent me a link to Fuck Yeah Lady Writers, which you should go and look at now. Because not only are lady writers pretty much one of the best things in the world, but also there are some wonderful quotes in there.
