Once a month like bloody clockwork, I find myself thinking about making a magazine, and I lose an entire afternoon to staring into space before inevitably deciding I can’t make it work to my satisfaction…
WARREN ELLIS is a graphic novelist, author and columnist. His new novel, GUN MACHINE, available now from Mulholland Books, is being developed for television by Chernin Entertainment and FOX. His first non-fiction book, from FSG, is due in 2014. RED 2, the sequel to the Bruce Willis-Helen Mirren film RED based on his book of the same name, will be released in August 2013.

Funny, I do that too.
Though I must confess it’s more like an afternoon a week, during particularly dull work days.
The question is: what sort of magazine?
Would you be willing to share the thought process?
I get that costs are the main issue, but I keep thinking that if someone with your level of reach could get something started, built around a comic serial like Freakangels, it would find an audience.
Are you thinking print only? And how does your thinking fit in with Millar and Moore’s attempts?
Well, that’s too bad, WE, but just as well. Whatever magazine you produced would be killer, but it might very well kill you. And we don’t want THAT.
