This is odd. Buried in Dean Haspiel’s account of how he received his greatly-deserved Emmy is this aside:

…I met and spoke to Stana Katic, star of TV show, CASTLE, and told her how much I loved her in Frank Miller’s SPIRIT movie [she was my favorite part of the movie]… …Stana told me she was in the midst of creating a new comic book and was in talks to act in a movie version of Warren Ellis’ THE AUTHORITY.

I don’t own THE AUTHORITY, and DC are certainly not compelled to tell me about anything regarding the book.

What an odd thing.

Of course, as Fraction commented the other day, overheard at every comics convention/BarCon from now on will be "I’m sorry, I meant to say ’Emmy-Award winner Dean Haspiel, please put your clothes back on.’”  Congrats, Dino.

    Well I just shat myself.
I know I know I know a thousand times over that its nigh impossible to have an item move from print/comic to film in a way that is 100 percent accurate and just as good as the source. But, I am nothing if not a sucker for a chance. Even a small chance at something so brain humpingly good. I would have no problem using fat, slow moving German children as nun-chucks to beat a nun to death in a pants optional battle to see this movie done in the way it should be.

    Nathan Fillion as Jack Hawksmoor

  3. Andy Andy

Who’re we hoping for for Apollo and Midnighter? I agree fully on the choice of Nathan as Jack.

  4. I want to see an unknown cast as Jenny Sparks. Someone who will inhabit and become the character, not just some Face actor who will phone it in.

  5. Manzo Manzo

Oh boy. I don’t know. The Authority was so off the damn charts crazy that I’m not sure it would work as a movie.
Also, I’d like to see Warren involved, at least to some degree. Otherwise I smell sadness and ruin in the air.

  6. […] Totaler Mist! So, das mußte mal gesagt werden. […]

Warren’s and Bryan Hitch’s Authority was writ large, with story and artwork along a cinematic vein.
Would’t mind seing Jason Statham as either Jack Hawksmoor or Midnighter.
Claire Danes or Angelina Jolie for Jenny Sparks.
A big fan of the original series, and would like to see this come to fruition as a major motion picture, if done correctly. Wouldn’t mind seeing Warren and Bryan involved in a creative capacity.
As I stated, the concept of The Authority has great scope.

  8. Wow! This is excellent news. Too bad you don’t own it, Warren. Hell, they should, at the very least, have you and Hitch there as a resource. I hope they stay true to the books.

Given the way that you have been pushing red dc contacting you and getting a push on “The Authority” Movie would be awesome

just the words “The Authority” Movie has me bouncing like a little kid
