Charlotte Hatherley’s “Behave”
January 8th, 2007 | music
Bryan Lee O’Malley put me on to this video last week: in places it kind of plays like an anime Dan Dare/MINISTRY OF SPACE.
Strangely, there was a Dan Dare tv series in development in the early 80s (Brendan McCarthy and Brett Ewins were involved, I think) that intended to use almost exactly this kind of process to realise the images…

Lovely video, sir – but who is the band?
Charlotte Hatherley, Huw. Formerly of the band Ash, left to go it solo a couple of years’ ago. I believe her other half is the film director Edgar Wright, of Spaced and Shaun of the Dead fame. If you can, watch the video for her song Bastardo, directed by Wright and featuring a cameo from Simon Pegg.
How did I know you’d end up posting this video?
Sean- You’re right about the Wright connection. Probably worth mentioning as well that the director of this video is Oscar Wright, Edgar Wright’s brother. Just heard about this last night.
Neat song.
It is and incredible video, and the song is strangely *contagious*, for want of a better word.
You don’t like it at the beginning but you love it by the end.
(though my inner lad wants to know if she has an arse like that in real life, or if it was just artistic licence)
