Warner Bros TV, iTunes And GLOBAL FREQUENCY

Since the news broke that Warner Bros will offer the unaired AQUAMAN pilot on iTunes, I’ve been pelted with emails asking if the same thing will happen with the unaired GLOBAL FREQUENCY pilot (based on my books).

The answer is: I have no idea, but I doubt it.

There was a move afoot at one point to try and get the show out direct-to-DVD, but the pilot leaking on to bit torrent so incensed some of the powers-that-be, according to my understanding, that that initiative was crushed dead.

I strongly doubt that this version of GLOBAL FREQUENCY would ever be made available for purchase. Which is a shame.

fuckin-a. now we have to wait a whole year for the next t.v. thing?

Aw, some little WB exec throwing a hissy-fit because of the Bad Old Internet? Twunt.

  3. Perhaps the WB putting “Aquaman” on iTunes was a move specifically aimed at preventing it from making it to BitTorrent. “Global Frequency” taught them a lesson?

“this version of GLOBAL FREQUENCY” –
    Interesting choice of language…….

  5. Peaked Peaked

The idea that, because there are people who want to watch this show, an initiative to produce it should be halted is ludicrous.

  6. Robin Robin

Speaking of pilots, have you seen Mike Mignola’s pilot for “The Amazing Screw-On Head”? It’s pretty funny. Starring Paul Giamatti and David Hyde Pierce. is screening it for free.

Actually, Warren has linked to that band’s site before.

IIRC, there’s a second band called “Spider Jerusalem” out there as well.

  8. Damn shame…. I would have thought all the hype over the torrent thing and all the news things it would add to the sales…. For all the fans owning the DVD (Or whatever) would be much better then downloading a fake… and withsome bonus footage (maybe) and interviews with Mr Ellis it would be a must for my christy list

  9. a damn shame, indeed.

  10. Shouldn’t that show them that there’s a demand for it? I’ve seen a copy, I’m sure a clean one would be much better. The actress playing Miranda Zero nailed it, methinks.

  11. Stupid corporations not wanting to take my money!

I still have a running bet with some friends that I will be able to legally buy a Global Frequency DVD before I will be able to buy legal DVD’s of the Addams Family TV show.

  12. That right there, that makes me sad.

  13. You know, the words ‘this version’ got my attention too…

  14. that’s a wretched shame.

  15. David Cutler David Cutler

I think the “other version” is the comic book, boys and girls.

  16. A shame?
    It’s fucking criminal!

I can imagine it now “humm, people like our product so much they are stealing it, should we try and make some money off that? Nahh, fuck’em, who needs DVD pocket change when you’ve got Superman Returns making all that…fuck wait, say what now?”

Any chance of anyone else having a go at GF? I suppose you couldn’t tell us anyway. You’d have to sneak it out somehow with subtle language like “this version” or something. *fingers crossed in hope that wild speculation is correct*

Oh, you’ll be missed on LJ by the by, hope you’ll continue the submunitions, even without comments, highlight of my working day they are.

  18. This is a shame. I believe there’s real opportunity with a Global Frequency TV show. Disappointing.

  19. Yes, by all means don’t pursue it because it was so popular…
And the Networks wonder why they seem to be evaporating.
As the old poster stated, your problem is obvious.(recto-cranial impaction)

    “this Version”
    animie,movie manga,regular cartoon,HBO,Adult Swim, anybody’s head explode yet???

  20. MAdMaN MAdMaN

Who needs something original like Global Frequency when you’ve got tired old shit like reality TV and crappy daytime soap operas that pander to the lowest common denominator.

Once again the big media companies show they’re out of touch with today’s youth.

  21. Remarkable. So someone leaks an unfinished pilot on the net, people download it, like it and want more and a suit decides that because there clealry seems to be an interest they are not interested in actually following up on it.

The air must be mighty thin up there in the board rooms

  22. I found your site on technorati and read a few of your other posts. Keep up the good work. I just added your RSS feed to my Google News Reader. Looking forward to reading more from you down the road!
