When I am England football manager, there will be no more talk of 4-4-2 or 4-3-3 formations. There will only be THE DEATH ARROW FORMATION.

…more than one in every two comics sold by Diamond in October was a DC comic.
Okay, that’s more like a fight. I wish that many of the New 52 DC comics were more creatively compelling and less editorially pissed-in, and I wish DC had dealt Marvel a nutpunch right out of the gate, but I do really like this performance by DC.
It’ll make Marvel work harder. And then, maybe, just for a short while, commercial comics will be less ugly and stupid.
This on the same day that Marvel are letting a bunch of TPBs go out of print just-because.

If you are old like me, you will remember Morrissey once singing “Hang the blessed DJ/ Because the music that they constantly play/ It says nothing to me about my life.” And then lots of people singing “Hang the DJ.”
I went shopping for comics today. Felt much the same way.
But the new issue of CASANOVA is on Comixology now.

I was looking for a villain for an issue of SECRET AVENGERS for Marvel Comics when I found Arnim Zola, who’s basically this guy with no head and his torso is just a massive face. The temptation to suspend a glowing halo over his headstump and call him ARNIM ZOLA JESUS is crushing.

The monthlyish gathering for webcomickers to plug their wares at the FREAKANGELS message board has begun.
There’s a similar thread for people making magazines, print or digital, too: link.

Piece on the TRANSMET charity book at Wired. Wherein I am probably snottier than I needed to be.
"I’d rather we had more real journalists like Matt Taibbi or Laurie Penny or Jake Adelstein,” he told Wired.com in an e-mail. “Rather than monkeys on content farms, or lizards who lie for coins.”

Matt Webb of BERG has returned to blogwriting with something of a vengeance. Hypnotism, animism, mathematics and magic at the speed of thought. Excellent.

Really wishing I could post some of Matt Brooker's pages for SVK. Absolutely gorgeous stuff. We're still working on it -- jokes are flying around about the book being cursed now, as I got sick as we started it, then Matt got sick, then as he recovered I got sick again. The book may kill us both off. Thankfully, we're not tied to a traditional solicitation and release process.
Maybe I'll try and leak a panel or two soon.
